How We Invest

Discretionary Solutions

The Gold Standard of Investment Management Solutions

This service is regarded by many as the gold standard of investment/asset management solutions. Many of our clients simply don't have the time to successfully manage an investment portfolio or to keep abreast of the day-to-day changes in the financial markets.

Essentially, the Discretionary Solution involves granting a form of limited power of attorney to our portfolio managers; this enables them to conduct tactical decisions on a portfolio without seeking final authorization from the client – effectively using their "discretion".

Leaving the Decisions to the Professionals

Among the key benefits of granting this discretion is the fact that, upon identifying opportunities in the market, our portfolio managers can buy or sell assets quickly without having to wait until we are able to establish contact with you. Many of our clients lead busy lives and have responsibilities that make it impractical for them to be on hand to provide authority for transactions. Discretionary management means they can rest assured that their portfolios are being administered by the consummate professionals at Wainwright Marks Management.

Respecting Your Risk Boundaries

As you'd expect, portfolio managers strictly observe the boundaries laid down during initial consultations where we established your attitude to risk. So if, for example, our consultations have determined that you are particularly averse to high risk, our portfolio manager would be categorically unable to buy high yield corporate bonds issued by, say, a shale oil fracking operation in a relatively unstable country in the Middle East as the risk of loss is simply too great.

Our Markets

With the humble cash deposit at a main street bank yielding next to nothing, today's investment environment demands that investors – sophisticated or otherwise – must expose their capital to greater risk than ever before.

  • Equities
Sometimes called stocks and/or shares, these are the lifeblood of any growth-biased investment portfolio.
  • Fixed Income
A staple of any portfolio geared towards the preservation of wealth and/or income generation.
  • Hard Assets
Sometimes called commodities, these are the raw materials we use for building, powering our homes, fueling our cars, eating, drinking and so much more.
